Preparation
How to prepare for examinations
General guidance. We will confirm the exact preparation when you book.
Abdominal ultrasound
- Fasting: no food for 6–8 hours
- Avoid gas-forming foods for 1–2 days
- Small amounts of water are fine
Pelvic and bladder ultrasound
- A full bladder
- Drink 1 litre of water an hour before
- The doctor will advise on the cycle day
Gastroscopy
- No food for 8 hours before
- No drinks for 2 hours before
- No smoking on the day
Blood tests
- In the morning, after 8–12 hours of fasting
- No alcohol or fatty food the day before
- Plain water is fine
Holter and ABPM
- Shower beforehand – the device must stay dry
- Comfortable clothes
- Keep a symptom diary
InBody
- On an empty stomach or 2–3 hours after eating
- No exercise before the test
- Not performed with a pacemaker or during pregnancy
IV drip
- Have a light meal – do not come hungry
- Drink some water
- Wear a loose sleeve
Surgery
- The surgeon will give you a list of tests
- We will send preparation notes on WhatsApp
- We will call the day before to remind you
